The La Quinta Resort & amp; Club is a historic resort in La Quinta, California today. Designed by Gordon Kaufmann and built by Walter H. Morgan, the hotel opened in 1926 as a desert retreat.
Originally built as a set of adobe bungalows on a 45-hectare (182,000 mÃ, ²) fruit tree at the foot of the Santa Rosa Mountains in the area originally called "Marshall's Cove" and now referred to simply as "La Quinta Cove," La Quinta Resort & ; The club now has 796 casitas, suites and villas, 41 swimming pools, 53 whirlpools, a 23,000 square foot (2,100 m) spa, over 60,000 square feet (5,600 m) of soup> 2 ) meeting facilities, 23 tennis courts, 11 retail outlets, 7 restaurants and 90 golf holes both on property and in nearby PGA WEST, designed by Pete Dye, Jack Nicklaus and Greg Norman. A hangout for star celebrities since its inception, La Quinta Resort's biggest claim to fame was as the site that film director and frequent guest Frank Capra wrote the scenario for Lost Horizon by the pool in 1937.
Both La Quinta Resort & amp; Club and PGA BARAT were acquired by Morgan Stanley Real Estate Fund, Morgan Stanley real estate investment fund in 2007. In 2011, lenders including Paulson & Co., Winthrop Realty Trust and Capital Trust seized 8 CNL former hotels. in 2013, the owners reached an agreement to sell La Quinta and three other properties to the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation. Hilton Hotels Corporation, based in McLean, Virginia, manages this hotel as a member of the Waldorf Astoria Hotels and Resorts.
