Fleet is a civilian town and parish in Hart district in Hampshire, England, located 36 miles (58 km) southwest of London and 10 miles (16 km) east of Basingstoke. It is part of and is the main town in Hart District, which is one of the richest and poorest regions in the UK. The 2011 population (census ONS) for the Fleet is 38,726.
In 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, and again in 2017, Hart, where Fleet is the main city, was voted the best place to live in the UK by the Halifax Quality of Life study, over areas such as Elmbridge in Surrey and Wokingham in Berkshire. This is due to the vast majority of the most affluent population, better weather and health conditions, high levels of access to recreational spaces and rural-surrounded city situations.
Fleet is locally famous for Fleet Pond, the largest freshwater lake in Hampshire and the ancient High Street with its traditional Victorian and Edwardian look and markets.
The city is located in the northeastern part of Hampshire and is easily accessible from the M3 is also home to service stations Happy Breaks of the same name.

Histori
The Fleet site was originally a heathland in the northern part of Crondall Hundred. The name Fleet may come from the French word Norman La Flete which means shallow flow or waters - a reference to Fleet Pond from which fish have been taken to the monks in Winchester in the Middle Ages.
Initial (up to 1904)
The area that will be Fleet has a shallow and sandy soil, mostly foggy or covered by gorse and bracken that has little appeal for agriculture and, compared to the limestone in the western part of the county, the Fleet area has produced some archeology. find. The Isaac Taylor map of Hampshire (1759) shows only three residences in the area that later became the Fleet.
In 1792 Basingstoke Canal opened. The canal passes through the city site, but apart from a few inns to serve passing trade, it has little effect on the region. Apart from Farnham to Reading road, the site is largely undeveloped until the construction of London and the South Western Railway, which opened in 1840. That year a church - Christ Church was at the heart of a new ecclesiastical parish Ewshot and Crookham are built midway between the Crookham villages and Ewshot. This parish belongs to the area that will become the town of Fleet. The railway company is promoting Fleet Pond for day trips and many people descend from London to skate on the Pool during the winter. This attracted a number of noble officials, especially retired soldiers, who moved to the area bounded by Fleet Road, Elvetham Road and Reading Road North and laid the foundations of what became known locally as "The Blue Triangle".
In 1860 Charles Lefroy, a local bodyguard, commissioned the All Saints Church - in the Blue Triangle region in memory of his deceased wife in 1857. The architect was William Burges. Ewshot and Crookam Ecclesial Parish Church was divided into two in 1862, with the northern part of the All Saints church being the new parish of Armada. On June 23, 2015 the roof of the All Saints church was destroyed by fire in a suspected arson attack.
The development of the Fleet was accelerated when the land in the south east of the Blue Triangle was sold for development in 1882 which, unlike the Blue Triangle, was laid out in a grid pattern. So it is that there are some very old buildings in Fleet, with many modern towns formed around Victorian buildings.
As part of the Urban District Council (1904 - 1974)
Under the Local Government Act of 1894 many of the tasks previously held by ecclesiastical parishes were transferred to new civilian parishes and Crookham, Fleet and Crondall each obtained an elected parish council. In 1904 the Crookham civil parish was divided into two - Crookham Village and Crookham Church with Crookham Church and Fleet Rural Parish joining to form Fleet and Church Crookham Urban District.
As in many parts of England, there was a huge explosion between the First World War and the Second. The fleet also contains structures built in the 1960s like a row of shops to the left of the image below.
As part of the Hart District Council (1974 onwards)
The fleet has grown in recent decades with new residential areas built at Ancells Farm, Zebon Copse (in the adjacent Crookham Church) and Elvetham Heath. Completed in 2008, Elvetham Heath is one of the largest new housing developments in the UK, which has added about 3,500 residents to the Fleet population, bringing its population to about 35,000, a 20% increase in less than a decade.
Two previous developments at Fleet involved a double opening on May 10, 1991, Hart Shopping Center, officially opened by HRH The Duchess Of York and the Hart Leisure Center on Hitches Lane (towards Crookham Church).
Although Fleet has traditionally been a boarding town that became a commuter to London, it now has several business parks, primarily occupied by Information Technology companies.
A plan to add a new multiplex cinema is abandoned; gym built on the proposed site instead.
