Serumpun Mountain (separated from the almost hilly Near East Mountains, per se External link below) is also an unrelated small community along the highway of North Carolina 106, southwest of the Highlands, North Carolina and northeast of Dillard, Georgia (about halfway between them), and the closest to Sky Valley, Georgia just south-southwest. It is located in south-southwest Macon County, North Carolina, in Small Towns, close to the lines of the states of Georgia and North Carolina.

Scaly Mountain community land is more like a big hill than a mountain, and used for skiing until early 2004 (formerly "Ski Scaly"), until it reopens in December as a weekend snow tubing venue. The nearby Sky Valley Resort also ceases to be the only ski area in Georgia at the same time, in large part due to the recurring warm winter since the mid-1990s, unlike the 1970s and 1980s in and after which they were established. Both areas were opened due to its proximity to the accessibility of the Atlanta metro, whose northern and northern suburbs are located about 100 miles (160 km) or 150 kilometers to the southwest, and have since crept closer.
The vertical rise is only 223 feet (68 m), from a height of 3,802 feet (1,159 m) at the base of up to 4,026 feet (1,227 m) at the top. The top of the Scaly Mountain Outdoor Center is now home to a beautiful RV Park with cabins that offer a full 360 degree view for miles. The average annual snowfall is 38.2 inches (97 cm), but the entire area that can be used is covered by snow. Open from the day after Christmas (26 December) on weekends only, while weather conditions permit, usually until February.
Opened at the end of 2012, the Highlands Aerial Park zipline park offers a zipline canopy tour, a family challenge course, and a botanical nature trail at 3,420 feet (1,040 m) at Mount High Holly, the westernmost of the Mountain Highlands Plateau. This ecological tour includes a "Squealing Mare" sign, which is over 1,500 feet (460 m) long, with views of the Mil-Nue mountains at Nantahala. The "Wilderness Nature Trail" has a 150-foot (46 m) swing bridge over a waterfall of springs, where over 100 wildflowers, native bushes and old-growth forest trees are identified, and each season offers a new study on the mountain life.
