tripod is a portable three-foot frame or cradle, used as a platform to support weight and maintain the stability of some other objects. Tripod provides stability to downward force and horizontal force as well as movement around the horizontal ax. The position of three feet away from the vertical center allows the tripod to utilize better to withstand lateral forces.

Cultural use
Many cultures, including ancient peoples of China and Greece, used tripods as ornaments, trophies, sacrificial altars, boats or cooking pots, and decorative ceramic pottery. The Tripod pottery has been part of the archaeological collection in China since the early Neolithic cultures of Cishan and Peiligang in the 7th and 8th millennia BC. Tripod sacrifices found used in ancient China are usually cast in bronze but sometimes appear in ceramic form. They are often referred to as "kickbacks" and usually have three legs, but in some uses have four legs.
The Chinese used symbolic sacrificial tripods in modern times, as in 2005, when the "Brass National Unity" made from bronze was provided by the central Chinese government to the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Regional government in northwest China to mark its fiftieth anniversary. It is described as a traditional Chinese sacrificial ship symbolizing unity.
In ancient Greece, tripods were often used to support lebes, or cauldrons, sometimes for cooking and other uses such as vase.
Firearms
In firearms, a tripod is typically used on a machine gun to provide forwards and to reduce movement from backwards. Machine guns are capable of firing continuous bursts of fire, but at the cost of increased recoil (which decreases accuracy), and increased weight (machine guns are heavier to absorb prolonged automatic fire pressures). Tripod allows the operator to rest the weapon on the ground and thus the gun feels lighter for the shooter and the accuracy is improved.
Tripod is generally limited to heavier weapons where the weight will be a burden. For light weapons such as rifles, bipod is more common.
Photography
Usage
Tripod is used for movement and photography to prevent camera movement and provide stability. They are especially necessary when low speed exposures are being made, or when telephoto lenses are used, as any camera shake when the shutter opens will produce blurry images. In the same vein, they reduce camera shake, and thus are instrumental in achieving maximum sharpness. Tripods also help in achieving the right picture framing, or when more than one image is created from the same scene, for example when grouping exposures. The use of a tripod also allows for a wiser photographic approach. For this reason, a tripod of some kind is often necessary for professional photography. With respect to film/video, the use of a tripod offers stability in the shooting as well as the desired height. The use of a tripod in a movie/video is often the creative choice of the Director.
Construction
For maximum strength and stability, as well as for easy leveling, most of the photodiest tripods are mounted around the foldable telescopic legs, with the central post moving up and down. To further allow extension, the central post can usually extend over a three-legged meeting. At the top of the tripod is the head, which includes a camera mount (usually a removable dish with screws to hold the camera). The head is connected to the frame by multiple connections, allowing the camera to pan, tilt and scroll. The head usually attaches to the lever so that adjustment to the orientation can be done more carefully. Some tripods also have integrated remote control for the camera, although this usually belongs to the company that produces the camera.
Survey
The surveyor tripometer is a tool used to support any of a number of survey instruments, such as theodolites, total stations, levels or transits.
Usage
Tripod is placed in the required location. The surveyor will press on the foot platform to secure anchor foot on the ground or to force the foot to the low position on the uneven pavement and perforated. Foot length is adjusted to bring the tripod head to a comfortable height and make it roughly aligned.
Once the tripod is positioned and secure, the instrument is placed in the head. The mounting screws are pushed down the instrument to touch the base of the instrument and tightened firmly when the instrument is in the correct position. The flat surface of the tripod head is called the foot plate and is used to support the feet of an adjustable instrument.
Positioning a tripod and instrument just above the mark indicated on the ground or benchmark requires techniques that fall outside the scope of this article.
Construction
Many modern tripods are made of aluminum, although wood is still used for feet. The legs are made of aluminum with a steel or steel tip. Screw mounting often brass or brass and plastic. Hollow mounting screw to allow optical perpendicular to be viewed through screws. The top is usually threaded with a 5/8 "x 11 tread screw thread. The mounting screws are held to the underside of the tripod head by a movable arm. This allows the screws to be moved anywhere inside the opening of the head. The feet attach to the head with screws that can be arranged which is usually kept tight enough to allow the legs to move slightly with resistance. The legs are two parts, with the bottom capable of telescoping to adjust the length of the foot to fit the Aluminum or steel slip joints with the tightening screw located at the bottom of the upper foot to hold the bottom in place and fix the length.Shoulder straps are often affixed to a tripod to allow the ease of carrying equipment over the area to be surveyed.
Astronomy
The astronomical tripod is a sturdy three-foot stand used to support telescopes or binoculars, although they can also be used to support an attached camera or additional equipment. The astronomical tripod is usually equipped with altazimuth or equatorial mountains to help track celestial bodies.
Laboratory
The laboratory tripod is a portable three-foot platform device, which is usually made of light metals such as stainless steel and Aluminum so it can be conveniently moved inside the lab. Its main use is to support or retain bottles and glasses during the experiment.
