Professional wrestling match types - Wikiwand
src: upload.wikimedia.org

Many types of wrestling matches , sometimes called "concepts" or "games of deception" in business jargon, are done in professional wrestling. Some of them occur relatively frequently, while others are developed to advance the angle, and such matching types are rarely used. Due to the long history of professional wrestling for decades, many things have been recycled (many match types are often variations of previous match types). This match type can be set to some loose groups.

Jomblo cocok dengan

The single game is the most basic professional wrestling match, which only involves two competitors competing for one fall. Victory is obtained by pinfall, surrender, knockout, countout or disqualification.

Tim match

Matches are often disputed between two (or more) teams, most often consisting of two members each.

The tag team matches

On most occasions, one team member competes in the ring with one or more of his teammate (s) standing behind the rope. The wrestlers change positions by "tagging" each other, usually similar to the top five and, as a result, these teams are called tag teams. This can create tension during the game because an injured wrestler in the middle of the ring is trying to reach his teammate, often with a heel team preventing them from doing so. In a typical tag team match, the standard wrestling rules apply to the end of the game with pinfall, delivery, countout, or disqualification.

Promotions typically have formed the tag team that most often competes in team matches rather than single matches, although teams will often break up to pursue a single career, usually through a turn. Teams often consist of friends or relatives in real life. On other occasions, teams are ordered together by promoters based on their face or heel adjustments to increase the number of wrestlers on the cards or to advance multiple storylines at once.

Promotions, such as WWE, usually have a Tag Team Championship for teams with two wrestlers, and on rare occasions, allies of the ruling tag team will be allowed to retain the title in the place of one of the wrestlers in power under the Freebird Rules. Although common in Mexico, lucha libre, at one point, the World Championship Wrestling (WCW) has a championship for a team of three.

WWE can also have three (triple threat) or four (fatal 4-way) tag teams against each other.

Tornado tag team match

Matches where the entire team competes are often referred to as tornado tag matches, especially in WWE. Suitable can be held under standard rules or as a special match, such as a steel cage match or stair match.

Team match tag elimination

Team tag matches are sometimes held under elimination rules; that is, the losing wrestler is removed from the match, but his team is allowed to continue with the remaining members until all members of a team are eliminated.

One notable example of this match is the Survivor Series match held at WWE on the annual payment of the Survivor Payment Series. Teams of four or five, although on several occasions as many as seven, compete under the rules of elimination. All other standard rules apply, and team members can tag in and out in any order. While some teams already have stables, others may need to recruit members for their teams.

In a free lucha free promotion, torneo cibernetico is a similar type of match between the teams up to eight wresters who enter in the pre-defined order.

Arena Blank match

The Empty Arena match is a hardcore match between two or more wrestlers that take place in a no fan arena. The only people present were competitors, referees, commentators, and cameramen. The game is broadcast, or recorded and played later. An example of this is the WWF Championship match between The Rock and Mankind that took place in Tucson, Arizona at the Tucson Convention Center during the WWF Super Bowl part-time event on January 31, 1999. One of the earliest and best known game of Empty Arena took place in 1981 in Memphis, Tennessee at the Mid-South Coliseum between Jerry Lawler and Terry Funk. The Arena Game is Blank rarely, and usually accompanies other full arena matches, as the cost of renting the arena and not selling tickets.

Number of Matching Anywhere

The Falls Count Anywhere game is a match where only pinfalls can occur at any location, negating the standard rules that they must take place in the ring and between ropes. Thus, it also eliminates the usual "countout" rules. Since matches can take place in different parts of the arena, the "Falling Everywhere" provision is almost always accompanied by a "no disqualification" provision to make the match a hardcore match, allowing wrestlers to feel comfortable using whatever objects they can find anywhere they wrestle.

The rule variation states that after pinfall occurs, the embedded wrestler loses the match if he can not return to the ring in a certain amount of time - usually the number of referees 10 or 30. If the embedded wrestler makes it to the current ring, the match continues. Under this rule, all pinfalls must be done outside the ring, technically making the match no longer count anywhere. Sometimes, these provisions are listed as having a particular area in which the number falls (eg the state, county, or general location where the match is located).

The new variation of the provisions, Submissions Count Anywhere, debuted at Breaking Point in a match between D-Generation X and The Legacy.

In general, falling "count anywhere" still has the de facto limitations that the fall occurs somewhere in the arena (because of the legitimate legal consequences of having a wrestling match on the grass where the owner does not grant his consent ), but at the St. John Massacre Valentine: In your Home, an extreme example happens that saw Hardcore Holly pinning Al Snow on the banks of the Mississippi River.

Tag match

The flag match is basically a professional wrestling version to capture the flag. For matches, two flags are placed on opposite turnbuckles, each representing a particular wrestler or wrestling team and the goal of the match is to take the opponent's flag and raise it while defending the flag at the corner of the wrestler. If the referee is dropped and can not recognize victory, the defender can return the flag to its place, thus rearranging the match.

Anthem's match is a variant of the flag match with additional provisions that the national anthem of the winner wrestler or the team's home country will be played in the arena after a match similar to the Olympic medal. This can be used to promote patriotism for a face wrestler or heat for heel wrestlers.

Handicap Match

Disability match is any match in which one wrestler or wrestler team faces a wrestler team with numerical advantage like two against one, three against two etc. Usually the baby clothes are outnumbered with the heels having more members on their team to provide an unfair advantage. In some two-on-one handicap matches, teams with superior numbers act under the tag team rules, with one person in the ring at a time. On the other hand, like a tornado tag team match, all competitors are in the ring at the same time. In the 1980s and 1990s, disability matches were used in early matches involving big star wrestlers (usually heels), such as King Kong Bundy, Big Van Vader or Yokozuna, which - as a way to get a persona/gimmick heel monster with the crowd - will completely dominate their opponents despite the recent excellence in numbers.

Lumberjack Match

The faller match is a standard game with the exception that the ring is surrounded by a group of wrestlers who are not directly involved in it. These wrestlers, known collectively as tree fellers (female wrestlers who serve in this way are sometimes called lumberjills), are there to prevent wrestlers in the game out of the ring. The group of fallers is usually divided into several groups of faces and heels that occupy the opposite side around the ring. Usually, the "opponent" cutter (ie, faces the logger if the wrestler is heel, and vice versa) surrounds the wrestler if they leave the ring and force them back into it. The occasional interruption of the woodcutter is not uncommon, or an out-of-fight fight involving the majority of tree fellers. The early woodcutters even feature woodcutters that use stereotypical loggers in accordance with the lumberjack theme, though these are generally no longer done. The common theme is for tree fellers to consist entirely of heel wrestlers to pile opportunities against facial competitors.

Variations of the match include the "Canadian" cutter, where the faller comes with a leather strap, an "Extreme" faller, competes under the Extreme Rule, and TNA's "Fan's Revenge" revenge game, where fans are equipped with ropes acting. as a lumberjack and encouraged to whip wrestlers.

Hardcore-based variation

Hardcore wrestling is part of professional wrestling where some, all, or all of the traditional rules do not apply. Most often this simply means no disqualification, which in itself removes countout, enabling the decision to take place anywhere. Other common euphemisms for hardcore matches are Street Fight (which shows wrestlers having to dress in normal street clothes), Extreme Rules matches, Rules of Anti-Violence Rules (hardcore rules fit exclusively in CZW which usually involves ladders, tables, folding chairs steel, tacks, wire spikes, weed opponents, light tubes, and flames), HardKore X-Treme match (Hardcore versions except weapons including flaming tables, flaming chairs, razor wire, glass sheets and weapons wrapped in barbed wire) Banned Hold, Bimbo Brawl (involving female wrestlers in hardcore matches), and Good Housekeeping match (which emphasizes the use of kitchen equipment as a weapon).

Some promotions, such as Frontier Martial-Arts Wrestling, International Wrestling Association of Japan, International Wrestling Syndicate, Extreme Wrestling Championships, Big Japan Pro Wrestling, and Combat Zone Wrestling, specialize in hardcore matches, with "non-hardcore" becomes an exception. World Championship Wrestling uses the term Raven's Rules for hardcore matches involving Raven wrestlers. They also create their own special brand for hardcore matches, in which the fight starts backstage rather than in the arena.

Strip wire mesh game

A steel barn wire enclosure is one of a number of games that use barbed wire in some capacity. Simply use barbed wire in a regular steel cage game not not make a thorny steel wire game match; barbed wire should be part of the game design. Another variation is the Razor Wire Steel Cage Match, a concept similar to a barbed wire, but the barbed wire is replaced with razor wire and wrapped around the top, corners, and walls of the enclosure, and barbed wire. Razor Match Wire Steel Cage matches the wire match spiked, but the top, corners, and walls of the enclosure are covered with barbed wire, then also covered with razor wire.

The Clockwork The Orange House of Fun match, known as Raven's House of Fun or simply House of Fun, was created by professional Raven wrestlers (legitimate, as Raven pitched his idea for the TNA creative team). It is a single match whose poles are attached to a ring pole measured about five to six feet above the turnbuckle, with a single chain wrapped from and depending on the poles to various points on the ring itself with many guns hanging and attached to the steel chain. in the ring, sometimes with a steel cage side attached and mounted on top of the ring. In the first game the use of weapons is legal, and the only way to win is to place an opponent through two tables after throwing them from "Raven's perch" (small scaffolding), but after that it is converted into a fall-count anywhere any rules.

Fans Carrying Arms match

In a Fan Carrying Arms game, all weapons are provided by the fans before the show. Sometimes the weapon will be in the ring before the game starts, although sometimes the weapon will be handed over to the wrestler during the action. This type of match is gaining popularity in the now dead ECW.

First Blood Match

The First Blood match is a game that is not disqualified in which to win a wrestler must make his opponent bleed. Or, more precisely, depending on the promotional nuance and the angle around the game, the first person to experience blood loss, regardless of the source. There was a match in which a bloody nose count. In a variation called Sadis Madness, created by Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, opponents must bleed before the wrestlers can legally pinch them. Although, there is no disqualification, outside interference is not seen causing the participants to bleed. Variations, Doomsday Chamber of Blood, occur inside the barbed wire at the top.

Last Man Standing match

The Last Man Standing Match is a hardcore style match in which the only way to win is by knockout. That is, wrestlers will lose the match if they can not answer ten counts after being dropped, similar to a boxing knockout ruling. To avoid losing, fallen wrestlers must be at their feet with a count of 10, but they can not lose by leaving the ring to 10-count (ringing out) if he is still standing while recovering. The type of match is the match of Texas Death (aka Mexican Death Match), where the wrestler must be pinned or forced to bow before the referee starts ten counts.

No matching countout

A match without any tally is a regular game in which both competitors can stay out of the ring or stay down for more than 10 or 20 seconds of the standard.

No Limitations Limitations

The Unlimited Game, also known as a disqualification match, or sometimes as a Anything Goes game, a Raven Rules Training or Match Race game, is a match in which the wrestler can not be disqualified, allowing for weapons and interference from the outside. The main difference between the Unlimited game and the standard hardcore match is that the fall must be done in the ring and there is little emphasis on the use of weapons. A match that does not observe disqualification, where pinfalls must occur in the ring, can also be known as an unsuitable match, or a street fight.

No banned game can be used in hostilities where a challenger may have won the match against the champion but did not claim the championship because the champion was disqualified (the championship can only change hands through pinfall or submission unless there is a provision made in which the title can change hands with disqualification and/or countout).

Taipei Deathmatch

A Taipei Deathmatch is a match in which the wrestler's fist is affixed and immersed in glue and on broken pieces and broken glass, allowing shards to stick to their fists. Win with pinfall, submission or escape.

Thorny Wire Massacre

A Barbed Wire Massacre Match is a match in which the ring rope is replaced is a barbed wire and the weapon itself is wrapped with barbed wire as well. Popularized in the late 1970s and early 1980s by small American wrestling leagues, as well as Japanese promotions abroad during the 1990s.

Matching match

Assessment-based variations

As professional wrestling attempts also tells a story, some games are made solely for the purpose of advancing the plot. This usually involves the loser of a match being punished in some way.

Scaffold match

A match in which anyone falling from a scaffold is declared a loser. Variation named Elevation X, displaying scaffolding in the form of the letter X.

Recent Opportunity Match

The Last Chance game, also called the Do or Die game, is a championship game in which, if the challenger does not win the title, they are forbidden to challenge again as long as the winner of the same match holds him. Rarely, a loser can even be forbidden to get the title while he continues to work in the company (for example the main event of Slammiversary XI where Sting will be defeated by defending champion Bully Ray in an unrestricted variant of this match and banned from challenges for the TNA Heavyweight World Championship again no matter who holds it).

Match Loser Leaves Town

Loser Leaves Town is a generic term for any losing game that has to leave a promotion or brand right now. This match is most commonly held during "territorial days", when wrestlers often jump from one company to another. This is held with a somewhat larger frequency (though still not nearly the same as in the past) on WWE during the brand extension, where losing wrestlers usually leave the brand (Raw or SmackDown), just to go to other brands.

Pension match

The provision of "pensions" can be applied only to one wrestler or both wrestlers in a match can grapple for their careers. Further still a legitimate retirement match, the last game of the wrestler's career (usually "legendary"). In this case is designed to be the last hurray, featuring the wrestlers talent for the last time for their fans.

My Foot/My Butt

A match similar to a single match with the exception that the loser should kiss the bare feet of the winner. Such matches include Bret Hart vs. Jerry Lawler during the 1995 King of the Ring and Lawler vs. Michael Cole during 2011 Over the Limit pay-per-view. A similar variation of this match is Kiss My Ass Match, which the loser must kiss the winner's ass and is clearly held during the WWE Attitude Era.

Lungas de Apuestas

Luchas de Apuestas (literally "gambling fights") is a match in which both wrestlers bet on something specific (mask or hair) on the result. The losers of the game then lose the goods, forced to remove the mask or shaved bald. It is also possible for a wrestler to place other people's goods on the phone, under the same conditions applicable in the event of a loss. This game has a storied history in Mexico. Once opened, there will be no name and original information of the wrestler to be published. As a further form of humiliation, the loser can be forced to physically hand over a mask that has just lost to the winner.

The most popular types of bets are masks of masked wrestlers or masked wrestlers' hair, which are most often against each other in masks. mask (in Spanish: mÃÆ'¡scara contra mÃÆ'¡scara ), mask vs. hair ( mÃÆ'¡scara contra cabellera ), or hair vs. hair ( cabellera contra cabellera ) suitable. Across Mexico, when masked wrestlers lose their masks, they are not allowed to compete under a mask with the same gimmick. In addition to masks and hair, championships, or careers - as a form of retirement match - can be prepared as a bet in any combination.

In matches where hair is on the line, generally the heel wrestler loses the match, as it is designed to embarrass the heel wrestler. Among the famous wrestlers who have lost matches like that, George Gorgeous, Adrian Adonis, Jeff Jarrett, Kurt Angle, Molly Holly, and CM Punk became heels when at the end of a losing hair than a hair match.

While most wrestlers (especially female wrestlers) eventually regrow their hair, in some cases wrestlers may tend to keep their heads shaved as part of their appearance. For example, the explanation of kayfabe Angle is that it can not regrow even though it uses Rogaine, hair tonic, and even fertilizer. (In fact, he's bald naturally, with a lot of jokes about his receding hairline that has been made on TV long before his head is shaved, his wife at that time Karen wants Angle to shave his head Angle will briefly regenerate his role in films > Soldier before shaving again Some, like Molly Holly and CM Punk, wear a wig or mask to hide their heads until enough hair has grown back for them not to wear a wig or mask.

Rotate Wheel, Create Transaction

Play Wheel, Create Transaction, also known in WWE as Raw Raw, not the match type itself, but how to set the type to a match that does not already have it. Before the game, the "lucky wheel" or roulette wheel featuring a number of different types of matches spins, with the match landed on for the night. WWE usually takes advantage of this when Raw is in the Las Vegas area.

Location-based variations

Although most of the matches take place inside and around the ring, some are specially designed for more exotic locations. The majority of these matches take the name of their settings, often adding "fights" to the end, and generally hardcore by definition. Below is a list of locally based variations that override or override the standard rules.

Belfast Brawl

The Belfast Brawl game was first contested on the episode of the WWE SmackDown television program, and saw Finlay facing The Great Khali. The match must be won with pinfall or submission, and there are no countouts and no disqualification.

Boiler Room Brawl

A Boiler Room Brawl starts in the boiler room, with the winner being the first wrestler to make it out. The Wrestling World Championship uses matches with the same rules, names their matches and the location of The Block.

Street fight

The street fight is a game without disqualification and falls anywhere (meaning pinfall and submission attempt can happen anywhere).

Miracle at 34th Street Fight

A Miracle on 34th Street Fight is a Christmas-themed game, named after the movie Miracle on 34th Street, involving Christmas-themed weapons including fire extinguishers, pumpkin cakes, gifts, Christmas trees, Christmas wreaths, sticks, bowling balls, and teddy bears.

Parking Lot Brawl

Two types of matches take place in the parking lot, Parking Lot Brawl and Iron Circle matches. They are basically the same thing, two wrestlers fight in the parking lot, the main difference is the Iron Circle match takes place amid many cars parked in circles with their headlamps, while Brawl Parking Lot tends to be in a sparser location. Both superstars are allowed to use everything around them. This includes using the car as a weapon and whatever is found around them. The first for pinfall or surrender is the winner.

Trick or Street Fight

Trick or Street Fight is a Halloween-themed game, named after the Halloween tradition of "Trick or Treating", involving Halloween-themed weapons including pumpkins, candy buckets, water-filled bowls and apples, skeletons, witch brooms, tombstones, kendo wand sticks, general wrestling like tables and chairs.

Gun-based variations

Although using foreign objects, generally matches use the name of the weapon used ("Singapore sugarcane match", "Match of seats"). The following is a list of weapon-based games where additional rules replace or override the standard rules.

Crazy 8 matches

The Crazy 8 match, used mostly in the promotion of Pro Wrestling Unplugged off, involves placing the champion belt at the top of the scaffold with the first wrestler to take it otherwise as the winner. Placed inside and around the ring for wrestlers to use during the game is one side of the steel cage, two trampolines, and four rope swings.

Landing staircase

The ladder match is a match in which certain objects (usually titles or contracts for titles) are placed on top of the ring - out of range of competitors - with the winner being the first person to climb the ladder and take me t. These are often used in WWE with their Money in Bank match. The ladder can be used as a weapon.

King of the Mountain Match

The King of the Mountain fits best described as an "upside-down staircase". Instead of taking an object hanging on top of the ring, the winner is the first person to use the ladder to hang the championship belt in the ring - after printing pinfall or delivery (pinfalls counted anywhere) get the right to try. A wrestler who has been pinned or forced to submit must spend two minutes in the penalty box.

TLC match

A suitable table, ladder and chair (often abbreviated as "TLC match"), is an extension of the ladder that matches the chairs and tables that are also present as legal weapons. The first TLC match took place between Edge and Christian, The Dudley Boys and Hardy Boyz at the WWF Summerslam 2000 event. Since 2009, WWE has made payments per December named TLC: Tables, Ladders & amp; The seat, which features this match as its marquee match. The match has two variations. One of them is competing as a ladder match, which the person/person should take the suspended object in the ring. The other as a traditional style match won by pinfall or surrender. TNA calls this variation "Full Metal Mayhem", in which steel chains are also allowed along with tables, stairs, and chairs.

Cushion War

The battle of the pillow is a match held where the pillow and bed are placed on the ring. Pillows can be used as weapons, but in addition, standard wrestling rules apply. Variations, Lingerie Pillow Fight, requires participants to wear lingerie. Another variation, Pajama Pillow Fight, requires participants to wear pajamas.

Weapon match

In this variation, only named objects can be used as weapons. Examples include steel ladder games, baseball wire baseball bats, cushions, hamstrings, etc.

Shared seats

A match of seats, also known as armchair matches, is a standard weapon match with seats being the only legal weapon.

Kendo stick match

The kendo stick game, also known as a stick match or Singapore duel stick game, is a standard weapon match with a kendo stick being the only legal weapon. Often, the ring will be lined with lots of kendo sticks for wrestlers to use. Combat Zone Wrestling's colorful wrestling campaign has used this match with a fluorescent light tube instead of a kendo stick.

(Object) in Pole match

Objects in Pole matches - whose names usually come from hanging objects; "Poles on a Pole", "Paddle on a Pole", "Necklace at the Pole", "Contract on the pole", "Mistletoe on the Pole" or "Judy Bagwell at the Pole" - is the spiritual ancestor of the ladder game. In this case, an object is placed on a pole extending from one of the four turnbuckles on the ring with the wrestler struggling to reach it first. Unlike the ladder match, however, reaching the object usually does not end the match; it only allows the wrestler to use it as a weapon. This is a not game that can not be disqualified; the weapon on the pole is only an exception to the disqualification rule. However, this is sometimes a game that does not disqualify where any weapon, plus weapons on the pole, can be used. This match is called by many wrestling critics as "Russo Special", due to the tendency of WCW booker Vince Russo's use of Pole Matches during his tenure at the company.

Some variations of "Pole Match" exist. In some cases, the match is closer to the ladder match, in reaching the object it ends the match. Elsewhere there will be objects above all turnbuckles. Furthermore, there can be a mixture of both, with objects placed in (though not above) each turnbuckle, one to end the game, the rest to be used as a weapon. Total Nonstop Action Wrestling uses "Pole match" as a setting for other matches, placing objects on four of their six turnbuckles with the promise that the first wrestlers to reach each object will be allowed to use it a few weeks later on a scheduled home game.. It can also be an "Feast or Fired" game, in which each box contains a contract to fight for TNA World Heavyweight Championship, TNA Tag Team Championship or TNA X-Division Championship, with the last case containing a pink slip, meaning the holder of the case will be fired soon , but if the person holding the X-title of the suitcase is shot away to win that title, it can not be cashed immediately for the World Heavyweight Class Championship (Option C).

Straitjacket match

A straitjacket match is a match where you have to completely dress your opponent into a tight jacket, and the most common method of doing so is to first knock your opponent or make him faint with surrender (mostly chokehold and/or grip to weaken the arm and/or shoulders). This made his television debut on TV when Samuel Shaw defeated Mr. Anderson by making him unconscious with chokehold and then putting it into the straitjacket. At WWF Raw in June 1999, Ken Shamrock, who was the only participant confined to the straitjacket, still won the game with Jeff Jarrett after forcing him to submit to the submission of headscissors.

Matching string

Rope matching, known by many names and done with many small variations, is any match where competitors are placed on the ends of restraint to keep them in physical proximity. By definition the rope - and whatever is tied to it - is considered legal and in playing weapons. The most common rule for victory is for one wrestler to go around the ring, touching all four corners in sequence and endlessly, although they can also end up with pinfalls. At WCW's Uncensored 1995, Hulk Hogan actually dragged a non-participant (Ric Flair) to all four corners to win a rope game against Big Van Vader. Because of the legality of the rope, and subsequent use as a choking device, delivery is generally not permitted.

The strap match is one of the most varied forms of professional wrestling match types, both in the name and the tools used, with the name used generally derived from the tool used and one or both participants of the gimmicks (ie Russian Chain Match, Yappapi Indian Rope match, Samoan rope, which is a signature game Umaga, Texas Bullrope match, Country Whipping Match). Common controls include belts, shoelaces (long ropes with cowbells in the center), steel chains, one to two legs "ropes", or leather straps. In dog-collar variations, wrestlers are connected in the collar with a dog's collar.

The table matches with

A match table is a match in which, to win, the opponent must be somehow pushed through the table by their opponent. It can only be won with offensive maneuvers.

The match table can be contested with the tag team, under elimination and one "fall" rule. It is common for match tables to also include a "no disqualification" clause, which turns them into hardcore matches naturally (though these variations can also be alternately known as Hardcore Tables Match). In some tag matches, one can save his teammates by breaking the table with his own body. Apparently this is not included in the team. The more "extreme" version, the Flaming Table game requires a table to be burned before the opponent is skipped. Another variation is two of the three matching tables. There is also another type called a three-table showdown, which can only be won when a wrestler places his opponent through three tables, but it does not have to be at the same time.

Taped Fist match

For a Taped Fist match, the wrestlers are allowed to record and/or wrap their hands to allow them to punch harder without damaging their hands. In one variation, the Taipei Death Match, the embedded fist dipped in a super glue, then a broken glass.

Enclosure-based variation

Some matches occur in certain closed environments. Although most of these enclosures are installed inside or around the ring, some are placed separately from them. In all cases, the structure itself is considered "in the game" and most of the enclosure-based matches are determined by pinfall or submission unless other special conditions are made earlier.

Steel cage match

The steel cage is one of the oldest forms of cage used in professional wrestling. The earliest known "steel cage match" took place on January 9, 1936 in Caruthersville, Missouri, in a card that included two "chicken fence" matches between Lon Chaney and Otto Ludwig, and Joe Dillman vs. Charles Sinkey. This match takes place in a ring surrounded by chicken wire, to keep the athletes inside, and prevent potential distractions. They have evolved a lot over time, turning from chicken wire into steel rods into chain-link fences (the latter now standard, because it's cheaper to produce, lighter for transportation, and more flexible and thus safer for wrestlers).

The steel cage match is a match made in a cage that is formed by placing a mesh metal sheet around, at, or on the edge of a wrestling ring. The most common way to win is to escape from the cage, both above the wall of the cage and having both feet touch the arena floor, or by escaping through the cage door with both feet touching the arena floor. Another sometimes occasional way to win a steel cage game is with pinfall, with submission, although this is a less common provision in the modern era, a less likely provision is that the weapon can be thrown into the ring by a wrestler manager.

It is possible to have a wrestler try to escape from the top of the cage wall while others try to escape through the door of the cage. In Mexico, the steel cage game was won only by climbing over the cage wall. In the past Impact Wrestling, the match was often called "six-sided steel" when the cage surrounded their six-sided rings.

Space match

In TNA, this match takes place between two wrestlers (or up to 6) fighting indoors. Wrestlers who are not involved in the matches surround the room. About 5 minutes into the game, the outside wrestler throws a gun into the room. This game only ends when a wrestler defeats his opponent.

Shuffle Match Scramble

The match, exclusively in the Ring of Honor wrestling (ROH), in which the ring is surrounded by a steel enclosure with four wooden platforms in the corners of the cage to create a "high risk" wrestling movement. All participants are allowed inside and outside the enclosure at any time.

Chamber of Extreme match

The home-based game comes from the Extreme Canadian Championship Wrestling (ECCW), where an 8 foot high steel enclosure that surrounds the ringside area with the top is wrapped in barbed wire and "extreme" weapons scattered around the ring and ringside area.. Disqualification, count-out and rest-strap do not apply. The winner will be decided by pinfall, surrender or can not stand at 10-count.

Doomsday Cage Match

Also called Tower of Doom, Doomsday Cage is a three-story cage - which is divided into two rooms - all home wrestlers. The object of the match is for the team of wrestlers to fight their way from the top-down cage, where pinfalls and deliveries come into play. In the following days WCW, it is referred to as a Triple Decker Cage match, a reference to the type of match used in the end of the movie Ready to Rumble .

Hell in a Cell

The custom type enclosure run by WWE features a large "cell" structure, a 5-sided cube made of wicker steel fencing open. The chain fences, which extend beyond the apron ring, leave a narrow gap between the edge of the ring and the cell wall. Unlike the conventional steel enclosure, the cell fence continues at the top, hence the name 'cell'. Unlike standard home games, there is no escape clause (and it is quite common for Hell in a Cell match to spill out of the cell and even into the cage ceiling), matches can only be won through pinfall or surrender. There are no disqualifications and the wrestlers are free to do whatever they have to win. Pinfall or filing can happen anywhere and anything that is not nailed to the floor can be used as a weapon. Cells can be used as weapons. This type of match outside of WWE is considered a home game because most promotions do not consider escaping the ring as a victory.

Because of the "literally anything" rule, this game developed a well-known reputation in the early years. Many wrestlers are legally wounded during these matches (especially Mick Foley), and the incredible mounds that occurred during this game are discussed even today. In kayfabe, it is considered the most dangerous game in the entire campaign. Jim Ross calls the cell "devil's structure" "made especially for injury." There are 36 Hell in a Cell that are suitable for now, with The Undertaker competing in 14 (with the last in WrestleMania 32), more than any other WWE player. The first match was between The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels in 1997.

Match Electrical Short Circuit

The ring is surrounded by a powered electrical enclosure. Cages can be used as weapons. The only way to win is with pinfall or submission.

Space Elimination

The Elimination Chamber, made by Triple H and introduced by Eric Bischoff to WWE in 2002, is a large circular steel enclosure that surrounds the ring completely, including creating a scar floor area on the apron. Inside the cage, in every turnbuckle, is a clear "pod" in which four of the six competitors in the game must wait to be released to join the two men who started on the opening bell. As the name implies, wrestlers are omitted one by one through pinfall or submission until there is only one left. The Extreme Elimination Chamber took place in December 2006 to Pay-per-view pay, where weapons were given to each wrestler waiting on the pod. The metal is black and the chamber is made of 'bulletproof glass'. This space is 36 feet (11 meters) in diameter and consists of 16 tons of steel and 2 miles (3.2 km) of chain. Since 2010, WWE has paid-per-view with the same name every February, featuring this type of match as one of its marquee matches. In 2015, this event was replaced with a new pay-per-view WWE event, Fastlane. The Elimination Chamber is back as the exclusive WWE Network on May 31 to decide on the WWE Intercontinental Champion and WWE Tag Team Champions.

In Germany, WWE refers to this match as a "No Escape" game due to concerns over the reference to the gas chamber at The Holocaust.

Inferno Match

The Inferno game is a special type of match in which the ring is completely surrounded by fire after both competitors have entered the ring. The only way to win is to get your opponent on fire. Inferno games usually end up on the outside of the ring; In this way, paramedics can help the less fortunate losers in the game. Due to its potentially graphic or dangerous nature of this type of match, it is rarely seen in North America. In fact, there are only five to date on the WWE, all of which have involved Kane.

The first inferno match took place in the mid-80s (1987) at the Juan Pachin Vicens coliseum in Ponce, Puerto Rico. The first WWF Inferno game was between Kane and The Undertaker on an unforgivable pay-per-view 1998. Kane has been thrown out of the ring and The Undertaker has no way to attack him. The match ended with The Undertaker win.

Inferno match variations, dubbed the Ring of Fire match, take place at SummerSlam in 2013, when Kane faces Bray Wyatt. While the ring is surrounded by fire as in a standard Inferno match, the match is decided by pinfall or surrender and not by burning the opponent. WCW also tried the Inferno match, known as the Human Torch match, at The Great American Bash in 2000 between Sting and Vampiro.

Punjabi Prison Match

The Punjabi Prison Match, named after the state of Punjab that The Great Khali (founder of the game) was billed from, consisting of two large steel reinforced bamboo enclosures. The first is four sides and stands 16 feet (4.8 m) high, while the second has eight sides and stands 20 feet (6 m) and surrounds the first.

The inner cage has four legs (1.2 m) with four legs of door on each side, with the referee standing to open it at the request of the wrestler. Each door can only be opened once and only kept open for sixty seconds, after which it is padlocked. If all four doors are locked before the wrestlers run away, they are forced to climb over, where bamboo is made into nails. Between two cages is sometimes placed two tables, where there are weapons (both "medieval" and "bamboo" variations of standard wrestling weapons) There is also an extended cord at the corner of the cage that can be used to strangle an opponent. After the wrestler flees from the first cage, he has to climb out and out of the second cage, with the first wrestler having both of their feet touching the arena floor is the match winner.

The match was revived in 2017, but WWE, as part of a series of safety-related changes following Chris Benoit's incidents in 2007, removes the nails on the bamboo and the string used to strangle the opponent.

Thundercage

World Championship Wrestling's Thundercage, based on the movie Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, is a large dome structure of steel rods that engulf the ring. Although it has no tops, its sides are curved to prevent escape.

AAA Mexico promotions change the concept with Domo de la Muerte ("Dome of Death"), which uses the same cage but only allows victory by escaping through the hole in the top center. This variation is also used in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, where it is called TerrorDome, or newer Steel Asylum. In AAA, this is usually used for multi-man "luchas de apuestas" (betting), with the last man standing in the cage to lose his mask or his hair.

Thunderdome is a variation on Thundercage, with an area near the top of the enclosure that is electrically flowed. The only way for wrestlers to win a Thunderdome match is to have their opponent's "terminator" (usually a manager who stands outside the ring) throws a towel to stop the match. In another variation of this match, every competitor embedded in the game is handcuffed to the cage. The last person left was given the key to unlock his teammates to attack another team, who was still handcuffed.

Triple Cage match

The Triple Cage match involves three stables piled on top of each other, with each cage reduced in size from the bottom up.

Two variations exist, in one competitor starting in the ring inside the lowest cage and having to make their way to the third cage roof where an object is suspended, with the winner being the first competitor to get the object and get out of the cage. The others, nicknamed the Doom Tower match, had two teams of five making their way down from the top of the cage down, with a victory reached when all five members of a team escaped from a door there. The cage was cut off from each other, with the door controlled from the outside by the referee, who only opened it for two minutes.

WarGames

Sometimes the suffix with the tagline "The Match Beyond", War Games matches two rings surrounded by a closed steel enclosure (with roof) with two teams (or sometimes three) facing each other. In the Wrestling Extremic Championship, this is known as the Ultimate Jeopardy match.

Carter Cage Match

The Dixieland game (named for TNA President Dixie Carter, who "found" the game) is a hybrid steel cage/ladder game. The wrestlers start the game in a closed ring in a steel cage. To win the game, the wrestler must get out of the cage first, then go up to the entrance where the championship belt is suspended on the ceiling, and finally go up the ladder to pick up the belt. The first match of this type occurred during the Impact Wrestling: Final Resolution recording recorded on December 3, 2013, when Magnus defeated Jeff Hardy to become TNA World Heavyweight Champion.

Lethal Lockdown

Similar to the WarGames match used in WCW, Total Nonstop Action Wrestling's Lethal Lockdown consists of one ring enclosed by a steel enclosure with two teams facing each other. Entry systems are staggered identically, but weapons are allowed and even supplied. When all competitors enter the ring, the roof is lowered to the top of the cage, with various weapons hanging over it. Victory can be achieved by pinfall or surrender. This game has become the key pay-per-view show for TNA Lockdown, but has also made appearances in other TNA look-a-go.

Xscape matches

The Xscape game is displayed annually at Lockdown of all-steel-pay-per-view cages in April. Variations of Lockdown Match has 4-8 competitors and is a two-stage process. The first stage is a standard pin/surge elimination contest, with the eliminated wrestler leaving the cage through the door until only two wrestlers remain. The last two competitors are then confronted; the only way to win at this stage is to climb out of the cage right up to the floor.

Asylum asylum

An Asylum game is a match made by Scott Steiner held in a small circle-shaped chain enclosure housed in the center of the ring. Victory only occurs with surrender.

On May 16, 2016, variations for the steel cage game, called the Asylum match, were introduced and scheduled between Dean Ambrose and Chris Jericho at Extreme Rules, where guns suspended above the cage and escaped from the cage were not a means of victory. , leaving only pinfall or surrender.

Container-based variations

Some matches have containers placed inside or near the ring, with the match object is to trap the opponent wrestler inside. Many of these matches take the names of containers, such as Ambulance matches and Casket matches. A similar type of match aims to hold the opponent wrestler, and the match often takes the name of the retaining device - for example, Stretcher.

These games are often championed using hardcore rules, or at least rules that allow wrestlers to do more without being disqualified. In team matches, the whole team should normally be placed inside a container to lose. In some cases, the restricted wrestler must be carried over a particular ringside point to victory.

The common container used for this match is a coffin (connected to Deadman The Undertaker's persona, either using a regular coffin or multiple double crates, sometimes designed specifically for certain opponents The Undertaker takes), body bag, ambulance, dumpster, hearse (known as "Last Ride match", also connected to The Undertaker gimmick), and stretcher.

Ambulance Match

The Ambulance match is contested under tough rules, no pinfalls, no submissions, no disqualification, no countout, and the only way to win is for one wrestler to force their opponent into the back of the ambulance and close the door.

Friendship Buried Alive

The Buried Alive game is a No-Drop-Disconnect game where the object is for a wrestler to throw his opponent into a grave dug from a large mound of ground placed outside the ring. Once at the cemetery, the wrestler must bury his opponent on the ground for the wisdom of the referee. Tools ranging from shovels and wheelbarrows to bulldozers are often available to completely bury the opponent. All the live games that are buried so far have made The Undertaker a competitor.

The match box

The coffin match (originally known as a coffin match) has a coffin near the ring, with the object of the match being to trap the opponent wrestler inside it. The coffin match started life as a one-time coffin game in the 1970s that took place between Dusty Rhodes and Ivan Koloff. The coffin match was revived by The Undertaker and first appeared in the Survivor Series as a coffin match against Kamala. However, with 16 matches crew cut, only 11 of them won the Undertaker. In addition to WWE, recent coffin matches have been adopted for use in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling and Lucha Underground, with Lucha Underground denominations as Consequences Grave (later Graver Consequences) match.

Waste bin match

The dump game is a hardcore match in which the win is determined by one wrestler who forces their opponent in the bin. The first is at WrestleMania XIV, where The New Age Outlaws fight Cactus Jack and Chainsaw Charlie. This is very similar to a coffin match, where one wrestler must force his opponent into the nearest coffin.

Last Ride match

The Last Ride game is a hardcore match in which the winning condition is for one wrestler to force their opponent into the back of the hearse, close the door, and drive him out of the arena. The first match of this type takes place at No Mercy where The Undertaker challenges John "Bradshaw" Layfield for the WWE Championship, even though the match is held previously with the same winning conditions No pinfalls, no submissions, no counts and no disqualification.. This is a matching variation similar to an ambulance match.

Stretcher match

In a stretcher game, a wrestler must paralyze his opponent in such a way that they can take them to a litter and roll them to the finish line; usually over the line above the driveway. It can not end with pinfall, submission, count-out, or disqualification. The first match of this type is different from a losing wrestler if after being pushed out of the ring, four medical officers can load it on a stretcher "take it", pick it up along the way, and start walking out with it.

Variations of multi-competitor match

On several occasions, matches may be held between more than two wrestlers or individual teams.
