The Royal Life Guards (Danish: Den Kongelige Livgarde ) is a Danish Army infantry regiment, founded in 1658 by King Frederik III. It functions in two roles: as a front-line combat unit, and as a guard/ceremonial unit to the Danish monarchy. Until its dissolution, the Royal Horse Guards ( Livgarden til Hest ), served the role of a guard/ceremonial unit installed, after which the role was taken over by the Hussar Security Guard Squadron. During the period 1684-1867, the Royal Guard called the Royal Foot Guard (Den Kongelige Livgarde til Fods), to distinguish between regiments and the Royal Horse Guards. During his time in the Danish army, Crown Prince Frederik served a tour of the Royal Life Guards with the rank of Sergeant.

Uniform
Royal Life Guards' uniform review orders, which were worn while they were on duty, consisted of bear's scalp, dark blue tunics, and light blue pants with white stripes. Ceremonial ceremonies, worn on special state occasions, replaced the red tunics for dark blue. The bearskin dates from 1803 and adorned with a regimental bronze hat badge (Sun and the Coat of Arms). Symbolic infantry bear brought by rank and file. This was part of the spoils of the First Schleswig War of 1848-1850 and originally derived from French infantry weapons.
