src: i.ytimg.com

Female 50 Leg Attack is a 1958 American black-and-white science fiction drama produced by Bernard Woolner directed by Nathan H. Juran (credited as Nathan Hertz), starring Allison Hayes, William Hudson and Yvette Vickers. The screenplay was written by Mark Hanna, and the original musical score was composed by Ronald Stein. The film is distributed in the United States by Allied Artists as a dual feature with War of the Satellites.

An Allied Artist television version runs 75 minutes instead of 66, including long-term crawlers printed at the beginning and end, repetitive sequences, and hold-frames designed to extend optical movie time.

The storyline concerns the fate of a rich heir whose close encounter with the enormous aliens in his spacecraft spacecraft caused him to grow into a giant, complicating his marriage which had been troubled by the cheating husband.

The 50-foot Women's Attack is taking off from another 1950s science fiction film featuring a resizing human: The Amazing Colossal Man (1957), its sequel War Animals Colossal (1958), and The Incred Shreding Man (1957). In this case, a woman replaces the man as the film protagonist.

Plot

A television announcer reports red fireball sightings around the world. Unfortunately, he calculated his course would take him to California. Nancy Archer (Allison Hayes), a rich but very troubled woman with a history of emotional instability and booze, was driving down the street in the desert of America that night. The luminous ball settles on the deserted highway in front of him, causing him to veer out of the way. When he came out to investigate, the big creature came out of the object and grabbed it (the viewer only saw the big hand fall on the screaming woman).

Nancy escapes and returns to town, but no one believes her story because of her known drinking problem and has recently lived in a mental institution. Her stepfather, Harry Archer (William Hudson), is more interested in her newest boyfriend, the small town of Honey Parker (Yvette Vickers), but pretends to be a good husband in the hope that Nancy will "snap" and return to "booby" hatching " he controls $ 50 million.

Nancy bargains with Harry, asking her to search in the desert with her for "flying satellites", agreeing voluntarily back to the sanatorium if they find no evidence. At nightfall, they find the spacecraft. The alien, now seen as a huge male male, appeared. Harry fired his gun at him, but the shot had no effect on the creature. Harry runs away, leaving Nancy.

Nancy was later found on the roof of her pool house, but was delirious and had to be anesthetized by her family doctor. Cushing (Roy Gordon). The doctor commented on some of the scratches he found on Nancy's neck, and theorized that he was exposed to radiation. Encouraged by Honey's lover, Harry plans to inject Nancy with his lethal dose of sedation, but when he sneaks into his room, he finds that he has grown into a giant. (In a scene paralleled with Nancy's first encounter with aliens, the audience only sees a large supportive hand when the movie character reacts with horror.)

Cushing and Dr. Von Loeb, a specialist he calls, does not know how to treat their patients. They make him comatose with morphine and hold it with chains while waiting for the authorities. Sheriff and Jess (Ken Terrell), the faithful butler of Nancy, trace the enormous footprints that move away from the estate to the foreign environment. Inside the ball, they found Nancy's diamond necklace (containing the largest diamond in the world) and other large diamonds, each in a clear ball. They speculate that gems are used as a resource for foreign ships. An enormous alien reappears, and the sheriff and Jess escape.

Meanwhile, the giant Nancy gets up and is free from her restraints. She shed tears from her mansion and, dressed like a bed sheet, went into town, to avenge her unfaithful husband. When he tore the roof from the bar to go to Harry, he saw Honey. He drops the ray of the ceiling on his rival, killing him. Harry panics, grabs Vice Charlie's weapon, and starts firing, but he takes Harry and walks away. The shot has no real effect on it. The sheriff fired a riot gun, causing a nearby power line transformer to explode, killing Nancy. The doctors found Harry lying dead in his hands.

Critical reception

The movie review collecting website Rotten Tomatoes gave this movie a 75% score, based on 12 reviews from critics. It reports a critical consensus as "Attack of the 50 Foot Woman" may be one of the worst sci-fi movies of all time, but that does not mean it's not really fun.

Remake and sequel

With a low budget of about $ 88,000, the <50> Foot Attack earns enough money to encourage discussion of the sequel. According to executive producer and cinematographer Jacques Marquette, the sequel will be produced on a higher and colored budget. The manuscript was written, but the project never went beyond the discussion stage.

In early 1979, Dimension Pictures announced that producer Steve Krantz developed a $ 5,000,000 remake of the film with director Paul Morrissey at the helm. This version never works.

In the mid-1980s, filmmaker Jim Wynorski was considering a remake of the 1958 film, with Sybil Danning in the title role. Wynorski succeeds as far as shooting a photo session with Danning dressed like a 50-foot woman, but once again, the project never materialized, because Wynorski chose to film a remake of Not from this Earth (1988) instead.

The film was eventually recreated as an HBO movie, 50 Ft Attack. Women Thirtysomething scribe Joseph Dougherty and starring Daryl Hannah in the title role, which also produced the movie.

In 1995, Fred Olen Ray produced a parody titled Attack of 60 Foot Centerfold , starring J. J. North and Tammy Parks. Beyond the basic premise, the plot has little in common with the original film, which is concerned with the side effects of beauty enhancement formulas on two ambitious female models. This movie is deliberately made funny and made with a very low budget. The illusion of size differences is achieved by using a forced perspective, unlike previous films that use composite imaging.

In late 2011, Roger Corman and his New Horizon company produced a 3D movie entitled Attack of the 50 Foot Cheerleader; was released on August 25, 2012. The film was written by Mike MacLean (who also wrote Sharktopus for Corman) and directed by Kevin O'Neill. Movie star Jena Sims, former Miss Georgia Teen USA, in title role, Cassie Stratford, and Olivia Alexander as rival Sims, Brittany Andrews. Both Alexander and Sims have hinted that the sequel is in progress, but by May 2016 nothing else materialized.
